Lake Arrowhead High Quality Docks

What Makes Our Docks So Good?

Trex Low Maintenance Decking
We use high grade, TREX Wood-Polymer Composite 5/4 x 6 decking, to deck our docks.  Trex is the best choice for your dock because it is virtually maintenance free.  It is splinter-free.  It will not split or crack.  It will not rot or decay.  It meets the ADA standards for a slip resistant surface, even when wet.  It cannot be damaged by moisture.  It resists UV ray damage.  We also take the time to screw each deck board into the dock with galvanized deck screws.  This alleviates the problem of "popping nails" that can cause unwanted injury to those using the dock.  Best of all, you will save thousands of dollars over the years to come because TREX does not need to be painted or sealed.
Microlam Beam Framing
Our dock frames are structurally designed and built to eliminate the stress points that are found in other docks.  In our top-of-the-line Microlam dock, the exterior frame is built with durable 4" x 10" thick micro-laminated beams.  These beams take the place of the 2" x 12" and 2" x 6" dock framing lumber typically used.  Microlam is made from long, thin plies of wood bonded together in a patented microwave curing process.  This award-winning, advanced wood-fiber technology creates uniform beams that are far superior to the trees from which they come.  These state-of-the-art beams have virtually eliminated warping, twisting, shrinking, and splitting, from our docks and makes them much stronger than other docks.  Microlam beams have become the dock framing lumber of choice for many marina builders around the world.  Furthermore, the Microlam beams have the greatest load and shear strengths of any of the dock framing materials typically used on Lake Arrowhead.  The load strength is rated above regular "Glue Lams".  Likewise, the "Torsion Tube / 2"x12"" docks are only as strong as the 2"x12" conventional lumber frame to which the tubing is connected.  We will also bind your dock together with heavy duty steel brackets and bolts throughout, so that your dock is built to last.  These features cost us more but we believe they are worth it to save you from making costly future repairs.
Foam Filled Unsinkable Floats
Finally, we use the "ACE Float Drums".  These floats have a polyethylene shell with a minimum .150 wall thickness and are rotational molded from virgin food grade materials with UV inhibitors assuring long life.  The floats are completely foam filled using a 1 to 1.5 density EPS foam.  These floats meet Corps. of Engineers Regulation #36 CFR Part 327.  Even if the durable shell is punctured, the foam within will not lose buoyancy.  These floats are a great alternative to steel floats which rust away, resulting in a sinking dock.  We also use sixteen inch thick floats, as opposed to fourteen or twelve inch floats.  This will keep your dock higher out of the water so they will remain drier thus helping to prevent dry rot.
Quality Workmanship
At MJS, we know that a dock consists of more than just good materials, it requires quality workmanship as well.  For that reason, MJS Dock Service employs only highly skilled workers who pay attention to details.  We make sure that all the boards are cut straight, the joints are tight, the decks are even, and the docks float level.  In short, we take the time to make each dock more than just a place to store your boat: we make it aesthetically pleasing as well.  With 20 years of experience, MJS has been building docks longer than our competitors have been in business.  We will complete your project in a timely manner.
Inspect for Yourself
In closing, if you are interested in our docks, we would like to meet with you to discuss any questions or concerns you might have.  I also encourage you to inspect any of our docks to see how our quality stands out above the rest.  As Lake Arrowhead's longest existing dock service, I know you will be happy with a dock built by MJS.
We Have built and maintained hundreds of docks.  MJS has built docks for some of Lake Arrowhead's most beautiful lake front homes, as well as many multiple slip docks.  We have done work for many of the ALA's Board Members and staff, both past and present.  As any MJS customer will attest, all MJS customers receive the same special attention regardless of the size of the job.MJS_New_Docks_files/14%20X16%20PIER%20VERTICAL%20RAIL%3Agate.
